Solar Storm Survival

Solar Storm Survival is a game created for the NASA Space Apps Challenge 2025 by Team HARVISTA. The game explores what happens during a solar storm and how humans might respond both in space and on Earth. In the space mission, the game begins with a cinematic showing everything normal until a sudden solar storm hits. The camera then shifts to the spaceship’s control room, where you must press the space bar at the right time in a reaction test to stabilize the ship. Next, you open the central computer, access the terminal to send a message to Earth, and activate the radiation shield. You can use the /help command in the terminal for step-by-step guidance. Afterward, you move to the control panel to adjust various systems based on the instructions provided. Randomly, the ship may lose control, needing you to stabilize it before returning to your tasks. All progress is saved, and once every task is complete, the space mission ends. In the Earth mission, you take the role of a passenger plane pilot during the solar storm. Because of the disruption, your plane repeatedly loses network connection. To reconnect, you must fly close to network towers scattered across the area. Moving too far from a tower will break the connection again, and you only have limited time to find the next one before losing communication entirely. After successfully navigating between towers, you must guide the plane to the airport and complete an automatic landing to finish the mission. The objective in both scenarios is to understand the dangers of solar storms and practice the decisions needed to ensure survival in space and on Earth.
